Construction Information as of May 6, 2005

Construction Locations
There will be extensive renovations to the Lower Level, as well as the 2nd and 3rd floors of Building 2.

Purpose of the Construction
Construction is planned in order to accommodate both the relocation of READI to the lower level and the relocation of administrative departments from Foggy Bottom to the Virginia Campus (Information Systems & Services (ISS) and Comptrollers office staff during the summer and fall, respectively).

Construction Schedule
Based on current requirements & estimations, construction activities began the week of May 9th.

The following is a general schedule for construction in the building during the upcoming months:

  • May–late-July 2005: Construction on 3rd floor (ISS)
  • May–mid-June 2005: Construction of LL, South-East Side (new READI space)
  • late-June–mid-August 2005: Construction on 2nd Floor, remainder
    (Comptroller’s office)

Construction Hours
Construction activities will generally occur Monday through Friday, during the hours of 6am – 2pm.

Potential Disruptions
We are working to limit the disruption caused by this construction, however, as is true with all construction activities—and particularly activities of this magnitude—there will be increased noise and disturbances in the building during this timeframe. When appropriate, notices about these disturbances will be posted on all entrance doors and in elevator lobbies.

Risk Management
We will be working with Risk Management to ensure that the proper safety measures are in place throughout this construction project.
