Chip
on Loan from Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce

"Chip" greets
visitors by the door to Building 1 with a friendly neigh.Champion
Chip, a life-size fiberglass horse decorated with computer chip parts
and circuits will be at GW until mid-March.
He is part of an exhibit called “Horsing Around Loudoun,” which
is a countywide, outdoor arts project initiated by the Loudoun County Chamber
of Commerce in celebration of Loudoun’s longstanding equine tradition.
Local artists have transformed 25, life-size fiberglass horse sculptures
into unique works of art. The works of art have been placed in public
locations around the county and will remain on display until a gala auction
on March 25.
Champion Chip was painted by Penny Hauffe. She grew up in South West
Africa (now Namibia) where she expressed her enthusiasm for art by painting
clothes on her toy bunny and shoes onto her bare feet. Encouraged by
family and friends over the years, she attended art classes in California
and the United Kingdom. Hauffe began her freelance art career in the
United States in 1997 and has been busy painting ever since. Hauffe’s
other work can be seen at www.pennypaint.com.
