Circulation Services

Find out how to borrow, recall, and renew books from the Gelman Library System and other WRLC libraries. You will also find information about Reserves, library fines, and how to determine which books you have checked out. If you don't find the information you need within these pages, please call Virginia Campus Library at 703-726-8230 or e-mail us at virginia@gwu.edu.

  • Borrowing privileges and loan policies: Detailed information on checking out and renewing books, loan periods, and other library privileges for students staff, faculty and others.

  • Renew books: Go to the ALADIN page, click on MyALADIN. You will be prompted to login. On the MyALADIN homepage, click on the Renew button under the library from which you have books checked out. Interlibrary loan books are also included in the GW tab. On the next screen you may choose to renew all your books (remember GT and GM books require a separate renewal) or just those titles you checkmark.

  • Recalls, Holds, In Process requests, and Missing Book searches: What to do if the book you need is not on the shelf.

  • Consortium Loan Service: Submit requests for books and articles not owned by the Virginia Campus Library. You must have a GWorld card to use the consortium loan service. Students, faculty and staff currently enrolled, teaching and/or working at the George Washington University virginia Campus also have the option of sending requests directly to the Virginia Campus Library from our online form here.

  • Your Library Account (MyAladin) : Use MyAladin to renew books online and to review your library activity, including books you have checked out, status of consoritum loan requests, fines you may owe, address changes, etc. You must have a GWID to access MyAladin.

  • Reserves:
    • For Students: find items placed on reserve by your professors, including electronic reserves.
    • For Faculty: register your courses and place items on reserve.

  • Fines, Overdue Policies, Lost Books and University Holds: When is a book overdue? A book is overdue if you do not return or renew it on or before the due date. books may be returned to the book drop just outside the library when the Virginia Campus Library is closed.
